The “Tropicale” series began through observation of a lush, yet entropic, tropical garden in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I created a series of watercolors over a two-month period, to center myself amongst a chaotic world. I developed the images through the digital process, to expand and go beyond the real images to create fantasy spaces of plants and flowers. My intention is to place value on our environment and its conservation, bringing awareness through this series of digital paintings. My practice is related to printmaking, in that these images are created as original works of art; I make them in either very small editions or as requested for public installation.
